Runcorn & District Scale Model Boats

Was formed in 1947 and although has gone through changes throughout this period has always remained dedicated to the interest of Model boat building and ;-

Is a grouping of individuals with a common interest in matter relating to model boats, ranging from static to those powered by steam, electric or sail.

Please that Fast Electrics and Internal Combustion engines ( IC ) are not catered for by the group policy’s, Also because of the effects they have both on the environment and danger to wildlife, and on the safety of the general public using the public lake and its vicinity.

Although there is no committee, individuals in the group elect officers to deal with the organisation of events and meetings.

Meetings are held on every second Thursday in the month at 7.30pm at the Grangeway Community Centre, Runcorn, Cheshire WA7 5HA. At these meetings events are organised and aspects of modelling demonstrated and discussed. Occasionally there are invited speakers for lectures.

Organised trips are sometimes made to places of nautical / modelling interest.

Sailing at the Heath Park Boating Lake
, Park Road, Runcorn, Cheshire WA7 4PU takes place every Sunday and Wednesday afternoon, usually from Noon to about 2-3 depending on the weather.

The Aims of the Group.

• To encourage the building and sailing of model boats, by modellers of all ages, ranging from the beginner to the experienced.

• To provide advice on the building, setting to work, and sailing of model boats.


• To promote an interest in model boats for juniors, by providing “sail yourself ” models at events, and by request, giving talks to organised groups.

• And above all, to create a happy atmosphere at all times and enjoy our hobby to the utmost.
