DANEGARTH
Owner’s name: Bob
Dimensions of real vessel: Length: 29.0 m (95 feet 0 inches) Beam: 7.6 m (24 feet 11 inches)

This model tug boat was built by Bob and Don, based on a kit " Lowgarth " by Mountfleet Models. ( Link )

The real vessel was made in 1966 in Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft and was originally registered in Cardiff. In 1992 it was re-
registered in Greece with the name Linoperamata. That name comes from a town on the island of Crete, with sandy beaches
quite different to Cardiff! The real boat was still in service at least as recently as 2020, making it over 50 years old.

It is modelled in its original white/beige/black colour scheme, including the black diamond on the funnel which identifies its
operator as Cory Ship Towage.

Just like the real thing, Bob’s model has a “Kort nozzle” around the propeller. This ring helps with efficiency at low speeds, which
is exactly what is needed on a vessel designed for towing. This model is powered by an electric motor but the real boat was
originally fitted with an eight cylinder engine making 850 bhp.
